Citizens Medical Center in Colby has been awarded $157,000 from the Dane G. Hansen Foundation for the purchase of general surgical equipment. As the organization has recruited new physicians and a general surgeon to arrive this summer, the organization is enhancing its current surgical suites and updating needed surgical equipment. Citizens Medical Center, Inc. is currently undergoing a $1.9 million campaign to expand the clinic, Family Center for Health Care, and add full-time general, and emergency surgery.

Citizens Medical Center, Inc. has been awarded $200,000 in tax credits from the Department of Commerce through the Community Services Tax Credit Program.

This is the fourth tax credit award CMCI has received. Our first award was in 2002 for the expansion of the diagnostic services area. In 2005 our award was used to expand Family Center for Health Care in and 2009 the tax credits helped us replace outdated HVAC systems at CMC.

General surgery comes to CMCI 

Citizens Medical Center is adding full-time General Surgery to its line of services. This, in part, is another reason why the Colby hospital must expand. The hospital currently has two surgical suites that will need to be upgraded to accommodate this whole new line of surgical services. The purchase of surgery equipment is estimated to be $500,000 alone.
